It’s Official!!! The Williams-Ohanian Family just got bigger with the birth of the second child of Serena and husband Alexis. Olympia became a big sister on 22nd August. Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian have welcomed their second child who has been named Adira.
In an Instagram post Alexis Ohanian confirmed the date and name of the child along with a portrait of their family on 23rd August. He wrote in the caption, “Welcome, Adira River Ohanian.”
He added,
“I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter 🙏 I’ll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister.”
Ohanian and Williams welcomed their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. on 1st September 2017. Olympia is 5 years old and has become an elder sister to Adira. Serena Williams announced her second pregnancy to the public at the 2023 Met Gala.
Wearing a body-hugging Gucci gown in the color black she debuted her baby bump. Later she took to Instagram to confirm the news saying, “The 3 of us [going] to the Met Gala.” She referenced their third incoming guest as the third guest.
Last year in an emotional essay about her retirement from tennis, Williams talked about wanting to expand her family.
William says, “I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution,” she wrote at the time. “I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family.”
