The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard has been quite public, and if you ask, who won? From the present situation, Depp is in a better position than Heard regarding personal and professional development.
Even though no direct statement of winning has been handed. Based on the public courtroom defamation lawsuits, Amber Heard relocated to Spain because she felt “too much chaos” in the States! A source from Hollywood informed that Heard felt like a pariah after the trial. Hence, she moved away from the public eye.
From living in a house in California, Heard has completely taken herself off the grid. Initially, she shifted to a rented house in Spain on the island of Mallorca. Later, she moved to Madrid and enjoyed her time with her daughter as they strolled in parks!
However, after the publicized trial, Johnny Depp has been touring with his band, the Hollywood Vampires, along with Jeff Beck. He has also starred in a new movie called Jeanne Du Barry, thus, reflecting the rising prospects and popularity of Depp.
The lawsuit was filed by Johnny Depp for defamation when Heard wrote an op-ed hinting at her experience of domestic abuse without naming Depp. Heard then counter-sued! The cases sought damages of up to 100 million USD; however, after the trial, they were ultimately awarded much less.
After the trial, Johnny Depp was awarded 15 million USD in damages while Amber Heard received 2 million USD. For Depp, he received 5 million USD in punitive damages, while in compensatory damages, he received 10 million USD.
Later, the 15 million USD was decreased to 10.2 million USD due to the statutory cap policy in Virginia. Heard received the amount only based on compensatory damages.
Heard has also hinted during the trial when on the stand that she has worked hard and fought to stay on the popular DC movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to release at the end of 2023. She said that her ex-husband’s power and sway influenced her role in the movie being parred down!
The current situation hints at Heard’s helplessness and how she has been ousted from Hollywood and the public! Yet it is quite visible that the evidence and the proofs produced by Heard in court talked enough to put her in this situation.
