Claudette Dion, sister of Celine Dion, shares an update on the singer’s health. In December, Celine Dion shared how she was diagnosed with a rare, incurable neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome. This news came after the singer called off her world tour, lending to this diagnosis.
Claudette Dion says they have yet to ‘find any medication that works.’ In addition, she says they are working closely with the ‘top researchers’ in this field to find a cure. Claudette speaking to Le Journal de Montréal, a Canadian daily tabloid newspaper, says their sister Linda takes care of the singer.
She revealed, “We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important.” Also, she added, “I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond [when performing], she always tries to be the best and top of her game. At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”
Stiff person syndrome is a rare-incurable neurological disorder that leads to uncontrollable muscle spasms. This condition can affect only one person among every one million people. ‘My heart will go on’ singer has been “listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible” to find a cure. While her family “trusts” that she will find a rehabilitation program that will allow her to get back on stage.
Claudette added, “‘[Performing] is innate to her, she’s disciplined in every area of her life.” Further adding, “When I call [Celine] and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard” on how she receives health updates about her sister.
Linda, another sister of the singer, presently lives with her to take care of her in her house in Las Vegas.
