Internet and technological advancements have enabled people to communicate with ease and speed. You can talk to people from all over the world thanks to social networks like Facebook or Instagram, the only thing you need is friends of course and the ability to understand each other, which is, in most cases, thanks to the English language. I wanted to learn more about the importance of this language so I talked to The College of English Language and they reminded me of many aspects of modern life which would be more complicated without the ability to understand each other
Meeting New People
As I already mentioned in the paragraph above it is very easy nowadays to meet new people via online tools. You are no longer confined to your own country or mother language, now you can just get online and discover wonders. In order to be able to talk and understand all the happenings of the modern era, it is crucial to know English, which is globally accepted as a common language used in every possible occasion where there are people of different nationalities.
So, to become a citizen of the world the only thing you need is to start learning English. You don’t need to worry if you are going to be able to practice or talk to someone beyond your classes. English is present in music, movies, TV shows, video games, etc. Even if you didn’t pay much attention to the role it plays in contemporary life, you can be assured that over time, and with some effort, you will have the opportunity to improve it both actively and passively.
Travel Opportunities
It’s not only online communication that matters. If you want to travel the world, English enables you to do that more than your passport. Every corner of the earth you want to visit will feel more welcoming if you are able to understand your surroundings, which is much easier if you know English.

Online life is no longer considered alien or weird, especially at times like these when staying at home is recommended. If you have a business you want to put online, you can do that, but in order for it to thrive you need to learn first a few online skills, but more importantly, English enables you to broaden your service beyond the boundaries of your own language, which is ideal for any business.

The best way to learn a new language is from someone who does not speak yours, so you’d be ‘’forced’’ to use the one you want to learn, but sometimes that can be rather difficult, English, as a common ground, enables you both to explain certain meanings much easier.
