Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are reportedly set to play Danny and Debbie Ocean’s parents in an upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel. ShowBiz411 has reported that the Barbie duo is set to make a comeback on the big screen to play the role of the characters of George Clooney and Sandra Bullock’s parents. It will be titled Oceans.
It was first announced in May 2022 and is being directed by Jay Roach of Meet the Parents and Bombshell. The plot is set around the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo in 1962.
Lewis Milestone first made Ocean’s 11 in 1960 including the Rat Pack. Steven Soderbergh then produced a remake in 2001 with Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon which went on to become a franchise. In 2004 Ocean’s Twelve was released, followed by Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007. In 2018, Gary Ross produced the prequel Ocean’s 8 which portrayed Debbie and other characters played by Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, and others.
Whether or not Clooney and Bullock will grace the screen in the upcoming prequel is yet to be revealed. The story is written by Carrie Solomon and is produced by Roach, Robbie, and Tom Ackerley. The upcoming prequel does not yet have an official release date. Josey McNamara has promised to do the film justice and has said, “I can’t really say much, but I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready […] They’re wonderful together [Robbie and Gosling]. The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.”
