Happiest Careers

There are two types of people in the world: those who live to work, and those who work to live. The goal for everyone should be to fall into the former, otherwise, life can seem very dull, mundane, and unrewarding. The career choice you make can have a big influence on how happy you feel overall in life, making it essential that you make the right decision.

Of course, a number of other factors will determine the career path you go down, but there are undoubtedly some jobs that please people more than others.

For example, accountants routinely rank among the most unhappy and unsatisfied workers, and following the demands of the pandemic, many people working in care home jobs have also reported feeling unhappy and overwhelmed (though this is easing as time goes on). This isn’t to say these jobs aren’t rewarding or fulfilling, but compared to other industries, they don’t rank in the top 10.

So, if you’re looking for a career change and want more information on how happy your prospective co-workers could be, here are some of the happiest careers in the world.

1. Teaching assistant

Teaching assistant

Teaching assistants are essential in schools and play a big role in children’s education, not to mention providing vital support to teachers. They aren’t massively high earners, but they routinely rank as being among the happiest and most satisfied workers.

2. Engineer

In contrast, engineers are relatively high earners and are frequently topping employment satisfaction lists at the same time.

This can be down to a number of reasons, including the fact that they often feel like they are doing valuable work that makes a quantifiable difference to people’s lives. As well as this, many engineers have hobbies that crossover into their professional lives, making it all the more enjoyable.

3. Gardener

It’s a proven fact that getting out in nature can greatly improve your mental health, so it’s no surprise that gardeners are among the happiest workers in the world. It’s certainly hard graft, but the positive impact of the birds and the bees make this a rewarding career path for those who don’t mind getting down and dirty.

4. Executive chef

There’s no doubt that working in a kitchen is stressful, but perhaps not as much as Gordon Ramsay makes it seem. In fact, executive chefs report high feelings of happiness and satisfaction in their jobs (probably because they get to taste incredible food all day long)!

5. Loan officer

Loan officer

Loan officers are responsible for liaising with clients, be they personal or corporate, which sounds a rather unpleasant job when people get denied finance, but apparently, this isn’t the case. Loan officers not only make a lot of money (in excess of six figures on average), but they also report feeling content within their role.

6. HR manager

Working in HR can be incredibly rewarding, largely due to the day-to-day tasks. Bringing new employees on board and helping them settle in can be incredibly rewarding, as can providing support to co-workers and playing an essential role in the corporate world.

7. Interior designer

7. Interior designer

When a person makes the decision to become an interior designer, they usually do so because they have a keen personal interest in creative things and homewares. As a result of this, interior designers rank among the world’s happiest workers. It also helps that they get paid a good amount of money for their services and are increasingly in demand, too!

Making the right job choice is critical to how happy you are both inside and outside of work. It’s natural that everyone will work jobs they don’t love at some point, but in terms of careers, the jobs listed above are almost guaranteed to make you happy!
