Quartz Worktop

Having different textures in your home is sure to add more personality to it. For example, wooden cabinets and quartz worktops show you are grounded and sophisticated. Quartz is a popular material to use for worktops because it is stain-resistant. However, you should be aware that there are two types of quartz available for worktops. Quartzite is a naturally occurring substance from quartz-rich sandstone with exposure to high heat and pressure. Engineered quartz is an artificial product, wherein hard resin and binding agents combine with quartz. In this article, we are going to talk about the latter. It is a good thing that the upkeep of quartz worktops is not costly. You can achieve a luxurious-looking home and maintain it for close to nothing!

Clean with dish soap and a soft cloth – no need for harsh cleaners and abrasive tools:

Wipe the worktop with dish soap and warm water using a soft cloth. You can also use a glass or surface cleaner compatible with quartz and a non-abrasive sponge. A special cleaner for quartz is an excellent option if you find one. Quartz also shares some similarities with another stone material, granite. They clean easily with simple tools. What sets them apart is the use of a sealant. There is no need to use one with quartz worktops. London installers will make sure you get high-quality ready-sealed quartz for your home. You won’t need to buy a sealant and coat your worktop with it now and then.

Harsh cleaners and abrasive tools can break down your quartz worktops fast. They will lessen its shininess and cause cracks eventually. In case you use either one of these by accident, rinse immediately with water. Do not forget to dry the worktop thoroughly. You do not want to leave any unwanted streaks or spots on it.

Keep a plastic putty knife on hand for hardened stains:

Gum, polish, paint, and food bits can stick to quartz worktops without your knowing. If you see a hardened blob on it, get a plastic putty knife to scrape it off. Always remember to be gentle – you don’t want to leave scratch marks on your pretty worktop. Those will be permanent, and you might need to hire a professional to remove those pesky scratches.

Use a kitchen degreaser for oily stains:

Oil is mostly the bane of everyone’s existence. Oil spills can lead to the destruction of quartz worktops. If always left unnoticed, it might break apart its components. Kitchen degreasers are a godsend, but make sure they are good to use on quartz.

Deep clean with a non-abrasive surface cleaner:

All things need a thorough cleaning from time to time. Worktops of all kinds need this process to ensure their durability. For this specific worktop, use a non-abrasive surface cleaner that is compatible with quartz. Spray it on the surface and let it sit for 10 minutes. Wipe with a non-scratch sponge afterward.

You do not need fancy stuff to clean quartz worktops. Keep it simple with items you can also use in other cleaning projects.
