Who Were Bonnie And Clyde?
Clyde Barrow was born in Ellis County, Texas, on March 24, 1909. When he was growing up, his family was quite poor, but later, they moved to West Dallas, a more urban location. However, the family continued struggling financially.
At the age of 17, he was confronted by police when he was unable to return a rental car within the specified time because he was running! Even his older brother, Marvin “Buck” Barrow, was a criminal. In the 1920s, both the boys were involved in criminal ideas such as robbing stores, safe cracking, and crackjacking.
Bonnie Parker and her family relocated to a small town, Cement City in West Dallas, after her birth on October 1, 1910, in Rowena, Texas. In high school, she met a boy called Roy Thornton and then dropped out. Bonnie then married Roy at the age of 16 in September 1926!
Even Thornton was a criminal and had a tussle with the law! After three years of marriage, Thornton is imprisoned, and that is when the couple sees each other for the last time. They were legally married even when Bonnie was killed in a shootout when they were running away from authorities.
The exact account of when Bonnie and Clyde met is unknown, but the common understanding is that they met at a friend’s place in 1930 in West Dallas. It was love at first sight, especially because they kept together even when they met for a brief time, yet they kept in touch.
Why Were Bonnie And Clyde Running From The Police?
Both Bonnie and Clyde fell in love with each other at first sight, so even when Clyde got arrested, Bonnie helped him break out a few times. Based on the reports, it has been observed that before meeting Clyde, Bonnie had no history of crime.
Slowly, Bonnie and Clyde became hardcore criminals by murdering people, looting them, and kidnapping them. As time passed, other people joined their criminal activities, thus forming a criminal band called Barrow Gang.
Often, Bonnie and Clyde were known as Clyde and his gunwoman! Auto theft was a crime that the group usually did, along with carjacking! After Clyde came back from prison, he started burglary, murder, and the business of firearms. The Midwest and Texas were hunting grounds for these people!
When they were on the run trying to escape from law enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) started tracking the group in 1932. It was in 1934 that an ambush was set up on the side of the highway at 154 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.

A speeding car, a Ford V-8, was running on the highway at full speed on May 23, 1934, hasting away! This was when Bonnie and Clyde were trying to make their escape from law enforcement when the law enforcement people who set up an ambush on the side of the highway started shooting at them.
Before Bonnie and Clyde could even raise their guns, law enforcement fired almost more than 100 rounds. According to the reports, there were more than 150 bullets charged at them.
The Brownsville Herald of Texas also reported that when the bodies were discovered, Bonnie had 50 bullet wounds while Clyde displayed 60 bullets in his body. The car was named Deathcar, and people surrounded the vehicle after their deaths.
A lot of people attempted to collect souvenirs such as pieces of clothing, accessories, or hair. It took a lot of work to manage the people by the law enforcement. More than thousands of people attended their funeral!

The stolen 1934 Ford V8 was quite fast and became a piece of American history that connected with robbery and murder. The original owner, Ruth Warren, could only claim the car after paying a certain amount! She won the case of owning this car in court, and John Castle bought it later.
The car was then rented to a Carnival owner, and then the car was paraded across the major cities in the US. Primadonna Resorts Inc. bought the car. Later, it was displayed at a casino at Whiskey Pete’s in Primm, Surrounded by glass.
The display of the car presents not only star-crossed lovers but also criminals who went down the wrong path because of economic, social, and cultural breakdowns!
