Learn the Coolest Travel Hacks for your Next Solo Trip!

I am sharing with you some of the coolest travel hacks especially if you are traveling to your next destination solo. When planning your solo trip, you need to consider some of the important factors, starting from safety, enjoying your trip, making memories, and others.

Some of the important factors such as accommodations, transportation, and food are important to consider when visiting a place. Especially if you are traveling alone, you need to be quite aware of all your luggage, electronics, clothing, and health.

Furthermore, one of the common fears is to become a victim while traveling solo, so these travel hacks will help you. Considering there is no one else to take care of you if you are not feeling well, or if you are lost, it is completely your responsibility.

Henceforth, navigation of the specific place should be at your fingertips. Not necessary that you practically need to know everything but at least, you should have an idea.

Research about Destination

Research about Destination

You need to pick the right destination by performing good research. For a solo female traveler, it is one of the most important things to do, know the place you are visiting and the accommodation you will be booking.

Furthermore, if it is your first solo travel trip, you need to be confident about the destination. Read more reviews online so that you can develop an understanding of the reality of hostels and hotels instead of completely depending on the hotel owners.

With research, you will be confident about the navigation of the place. Accordingly, choosing the destinations is popularly safe and other solo female travelers have vouched for the safety. Check The Hosteller which offers safe and comfortable hostel options, clean, budget-friendly, and 24/7 security.

Use Transport Ride-Sharing Apps

You can use various ride-sharing apps, Ola and Uber to travel when you are not sure about the destination you are going to. Try to avoid hailing just any taxi directly from the roadside. In many countries, there are auto-rickshaws, bikes, cycles, and other local vehicles that are also perfect if you are going on short rides.

Try to get cabs and book vehicles from reputable places, be it offline organizations or online applications. You get accountability, heightened safety and peace of mind when using these services so that you are both safe and enjoy yourself.

Avoid Isolated Areas

Avoid Isolated Areas

There are popular tourist spots, which you can visit there, be it in the morning or evening. However, try to be a little aware of how pickpockets or petty theft can be a common instance.

One of the important travel hacks is to be aware of remote locations and crowded areas. Try to avoid isolated areas, even if it is one of the best solo travel destinations. When going remotely to various regions and streets always have access to navigation maps.

Pay attention to your surroundings if you are not going to a well-known place. As a solo traveler, you do not need to be over-friendly with strangers and do not allow them to become too comfortable with you. Also, do not entertain unknown people offering you free drinks or food!

Dress Comfortably and based on Occasion.

There are several places where people do not care what you wear, especially if it is a vacation hotspot. However, there are places where there are small villages and towns where people might feel disrespected when it comes to wearing certain clothing.

There are traditional values, practices, and cultures in places that need visitors to dress conservatively. For example, I visited a temple and holy grounds in Indonesia where you need to have your knees covered. It is a respect towards the culture plus, I also think dressing appropriately helps you stay blended.

There are still people around the world who are not as aware or accepting of change and you might attract unnecessary attention which might not be safe. Revealing too much skin, wearing expensive jewelry, and flashing accessories like watches might highlight you leading to harassment and safety issues.

Be Careful of Your Drinks

Be Careful of Your Drinks

It is completely okay to enjoy yourself, irrespective of your gender! When you are traveling solo, whether you are a man or a woman, you are at risk of being duped or even taken advantage of by someone who might spike your drink.

Try to be careful when hanging in a bar with strangers around you. Drinking alcohol is not bad, but it is better if you drink moderately whether you are in hotels, pubs, or lounges. When traveling solo, try to be careful, aware of your surroundings and keep a check on your belongings!

This is one of the most important travel hacks, “Don’t Overdo Alcohol”! It might be fun at that moment, but trust me it will lead to a crisis, whether it is just a physical hangover or something severe.

Always carry your Phone and a Portable Charger.

A portable charger is a must when traveling to a different place alone! There are different types of plug services, hence, you might want to carry the charger everywhere so that your phone is always available.

This will ensure that there is enough battery so that you can follow maps, have active GPS tracking services and others. Try not to use your mobile phone in secluded spots because you might run the risk of mobile snatching.

Also, another one of the significant travel hacks that I am listing here is buying a local SIM Card. With a local sim card, you can access anyone easily, especially your local driver, guide, and travel agents if any. It will also help you get easy Wi-Fi and connectivity everywhere which in turn will help you connect with anyone through the Internet!

Know basic Self- Self-defense techniques

Know basic Self- Self-defense techniques

I think everyone needs to have basic self-defense skills because it helps you focus on having more confidence. Basic skills taught in self-defense classes are striking with elbows, kicking, turning the fingers aggressively, using nails, and attacking the eyes.

You can pull these moves off easily with basic knowledge and common awareness of your surroundings. Furthermore, you will feel empowered with the knowledge and can easily travel solo anywhere.

Do not Keep Credit Cards and Cash in the Same Place

This is keeping all your eggs in one basket and ending up losing them all. Another one of the travel hacks is to keep your cash in a different bag and your credit cards in a different bag. This will ensure that you have the backup of at least one of the things to help you out if a crisis occurs.

Also try to keep some kind of backup, a credit card, and some cash in your luggage which is still at the hotel so that, if you lose your bags, you still have a backup to go on to seek help.

Connected with Other Females

Connected with Other Females

If you are going on a solo travel for women, you need to stay connected with other females. Yes, I just told you to be aware of strangers and that includes women however, it is also important to remember that a woman is more understanding of another woman’s concern or suffering.

Whether it is about spending the night together because it might not be safe or one of you feeling lonely or watching your bag when you go to the washroom. Watching each other’s back is quite important especially when you think about improved security and yet enjoy your travel.

Registering with Embassy

This is a hack for you when you travel internationally. Always register with the embassy of your home country, when traveling to different international locations. You never know the type of crisis you might face so in case of an emergency, you know where to call.

Trust me, it will add a layer of confidence when it comes to your connection with the embassy. Furthermore, you will also experience a sense of support when traveling alone, whether you are a man or a woman.

Wrapping up!

In conclusion, as a woman, I would never say that a solo female traveler needs to be more aware of these travel hacks as compared to solo male travelers. All solo travelers will find these travel hacks extremely helpful and resourceful.

Comment below if you have anything to add to this list or if you think I have missed any. Simultaneously, keep traveling, be safe, and be happy.
