A world promising magic, spirits, and ninja, Naruto follows the titular character Naruto Uzumaki, who works hard to become the best ninja in their village called Konoha (The Village Hidden in the Leaves.) It is based on the manga of the same name; it has quickly become one of the most popular anime of all time. It is written by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot revolves around family, sacrifice, redemption, and perseverance.
The series spans the life of Naruto. He first appears to be a young orphan as he tries to gain the respect of his peers. The characters Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno venture into different missions with their sensei, Kakashi Hatake.
As the story goes on, the characters mature into adults, dealing with life crises such as love, betrayal, and pain. Naruto even goes on to become a husband and father by the end of his series run. The immense popularity of the show resulted in 11 films. All the films take place within the timeline of Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

We are going to reveal the chronological order of the Naruto films so you know which to watch first. There may be spoilers, given that these films take place within the time frame of the series. But they are benign. Here are the naruto movies in order.
The Naruto Movie Timeline
The first three Naruto movies are similar to the original anime TV series. The following eight takes place within the timeframe of Naruto: Shippuden. The first Naruto movie, 2004’s Ninja Clash In The Land Of Snow, happens between episodes 101 and 102. The Legend Of The Stone Of Gelel takes place after episode 160. The third one, Guardians Of The Crescent Moon Kingdom, is set sometime after episode 196.
The films of the Shippuden era, however, are hazy. You will have to guess where to place this in regard to the series. Naruto Shippuden: The Movie released in 2007 comes after episode 32 of the sequel series. 2008’s Bonds can be placed after episode 70. Naruto Shippuden’s The Movie: The Will Of Fire comes somewhere after episode 121, and The Lowest Tower goes trailing episode 143.
The chronology of Blood Prison is even more confusing and has sparked a lot of debate among fans. It likely comes after episode 220. Road To Ninja sits somewhere after episode 250. Aptly named The Last, it portrays Naruto and his friends trying to stop the moon from hitting Earth. It comes before episode 495.
Boruto: Naruto The Movie follows Naruto’s son Boruto in new adventures. The events are retold in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which extensively covers episodes 51-66. The latter entries of Naruto are highly debatable among franchise fans, but most of them can be watched without strict continuity.

2. Legend Of The Stone Of Gelel
The second in the Naruto series, this movie follows Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru as they are entangled in the battle for the Stone of Gelel. The stone is believed to have the power to give the owner the strength of a jinchūriki (half-human, half-tailed beast). The film takes place somewhere after episode 106 of Naruto.
3. Guardians Of The Crescent Moon Kingdom
In this installment, Kakashi, Sakura, Rock Lee, and Naruto are assigned on a mission to take Prince Hikaru Tsuki and his father, Michiru, back to the land of the Moon. Naruto is ordained with the duty to teach the young prince humility. This film sits after episode 196. Naruto and his buddies try to make the most of their B-rank mission.
4. Naruto Shippuden: The Movie
Here are the naruto shippuden movies in order. The first movie in the Naruto Shippuden series starts quite impressively. It is said that Naruto is destined to die fighting a monster. Whether fate is already decided or is destiny in his own hands is the plot of this film. This film is best watched after episode 32 of Naruto Shippuden.
5. Bonds
The Land of the Sky plans an attack on Konoha as an act of vengeance after their battle in the Second Great Ninja War. A boy called Amaru comes with a warning for the Leaf Village. Naruto, Hinata, and Sakura must team up with the boy to help protect the village. This film takes place after episode 71 of Naruto Shippuden.
6. The Will Of Fire
This movie sees ninjas with kekkei genkai abilities disappear. Kakashi, who is endowed with kekkei genkai abilities, is likely their next target. Naruto must save his sensei’s life, testing how strong Naruto’s will of fire truly is. This film is at the juncture of episode 121 of Shippuden.
7. The Lost Tower
Team 7’s attempt to capture a ninja named Mukade results in sending Naruto and Yamato 20 years back into the past. Naruto needs the help of the fourth Hokage, and a younger Kakashi must return home. You can watch this film after episode 143.
8. Blood Prison
Naruto is falsely accused of attacking the Fourth Riakage, who was arrested in the Hidden Grass Village. He is sent to prison, Hozuki Castle also called the Blood Prison. Naruto has to manage to escape from one of the most secure prisons in the world, as well as clear his name of the crime he did not commit. It is not an easy task, and it becomes even more tough without his fox chakra. This film takes place after episode 196 of Shippuden.
9. Road To Ninja
A unique film in the Naruto series, Road to Ninja, is a What If? Plot. Naruto and Sakura are transported to a world where both of Naruto’s parents are alive, Sakura is an orphan, and Sasuke never leaves Konoha. What their lives could have been is the storyline of this film. This film is set after episode 251 of Shippuden.
10. The Last
This movie is the last in the Naruto franchise. You can watch this movie after episode 493 of Shippuden. In this feature, Naruto and his friends discover that the moon will be colliding with the Earth. This event is caused by a descendant of The Sage of Six Paths. The Last: Naruto the Movie turns out to be very different from what fans had come to expect– it is a romance.
11. Boruto: Naruto the Movie
Technically not a Naruto film, it sets up the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The jinchūriki are being assassinated, which also leads to the threat being directed at Naruto Uzumaki. The only people who can save him are his old friend Sasuke Uchiha and his son Boruto. Thai happens in between the finale of Naruto Shippuden and before Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
