CBD Oil Uses for Pets

Just like for humans, no pet owner wants to see their pet ill or incapacitated but rather they want to be sure they are always in great condition health-wise. One medication that has been in use for humans to treat various medical and health issues is CBD. Because pets like dogs and cats have endocannabinoid receptors like humans, they too are able to use this medication to treat a wide range of ailments and for the overall wellbeing of these animals.

What is CBD?

CBD is an abbreviation or the short form for cannabidiol, one of the many substances found in the cannabis plant such as hemp. It is naturally occurring and gotten from virtually all the parts of the hemp plant. It can be used to make oils and other edibles for consumption by humans and animals alike.

Cannabidiol from the hemp plant is different from that from marijuana because it does not contain delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol commonly called THC which gives the cannabis plant its psychoactive effect. Because of this, one cannot get high using it. You can read more about this amazing compound here.

Cannabidiol is popular these days on one part due to the legalization of hemp and its derivatives in the United States. On the other hand, it has many health benefits and it is used in treating different diseases and illnesses.

CBD for animals usually comes either in the form of oil in bottles with tinctures, capsules, or treats. The oil is derived from the leaves, flowers, and stem of the hemp plant. When used for animals, it is usually administered orally through tinctures as drops under their tongue.

What Can CBD Oil Do for Your Pet?

As mentioned earlier, because animals have endocannabinoid receptors like humans, CBD can interact with these receptors and bring healing to different ailments they may have. It also helps to keep them calm, relaxed, and also improve the quality of their life. Below are a number of diseases CBD can help to take care of.

Inflammation and Pain

CBD has anti-inflammatory properties as it helps to reduce inflammation and pain in your pet. Inflammation causes disorders in the body systems and this is due to a malfunction of the immune system, causing the destruction of healthy cells. The oil will interact with the CB2 receptor in the endocannabinoid system (ECS); a biological system that regulates and manages major processes in the body like sleeping, eating, memory, etc. and will, in turn, enhance the immune system to function properly thereby providing good response to inflammation.

Anxiety

Animals can suffer from separation and different forms of anxieties. They also undergo stress which will show in their behavior with symptoms such as aggression, tremors, chewing on stuff like furniture and other materials, etc. They often will not stay calm but will be restless. If your pet is suffering from any kind of anxiety, CBD oil can help in making it calm and relaxed if administered regularly.

Cancer

Regular intake of CBD oil by your pet will prevent the growth of cancerous cells as it has an anti-tumor effect. It supports the immune system to fight against free radicals that might lead to cancer and prevents them from building energy. It also slows down and stops the growth of glioma cells.

Seizures and Epilepsy

A lot of pets suffer from seizures and epilepsy. Although there are other drugs that may be available to treat this, they may be harmful to your pet’s major organs and may not be as effective. CBD oil helps to resist this, calming your pet such that you would notice an improvement in no time. It has actually been seen to offer relief against drug-resistant epilepsy.

Lack of Appetite

Another purpose of using CBD oil from Holistapet is to enhance the appetite of your pet. If you notice your pet looks dull and refuses to eat or is feeling nauseated, small doses of the oil can help lift its spirit and restore its appetite. You will see your pet eating and full of life in no time.

Where and How to Buy CBD Oil

When purchasing CBD oil for your pets, don’t just buy anyone you see. Not all oils are the same. Buy high-quality oil from reputable manufacturers, outlets, and retailers such as those found here.

Be sure to shop for oil that is organic so it does not contain harmful chemicals like solvents, pesticides, and fungicides which will be harmful to your pet.

Most times, the higher the quality of a CBD product, the higher the price. Although the price should not be exorbitant, do not go for a cheap product as it might be of low quality and contain additives.

You can also request for the lab analysis the product if you desire to know the amount of CBD contained therein and to be sure that the THC content is little or none at all.
