There is something really different about the Cannes Film Festival this year. While great movies are being shown, for some reason there is a lot of focus and attention on the fashion choices and looks of the celebrities who are attending the festival.
Famous filmmaker, Nandita Das, who has made India proud with her phenomenal work globally has spoken up about this as she is “missing Cannes this year.”
Das used Instagram to establish her profile and posted some old pictures from the same. Nandita Das, who wore sarees in each image, lamented how people had forgotten that Cannes was a film festival and not just about fashion.
In her Instagram post, she wrote:
“Sadly missing Cannes this year. Sometimes people seem to forget that it is a festival of films and not of clothes!”
This stems from the fact that several Indian celebrities, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Manushi Chillar, showed up in the Red Carpet of the Film Festival wearing elaborate clothing from various renowned designers.
There are several other celebrities and stars from all over the world who have made heads turn and jaws drop due to their stunning fashion choices for this year’s Cannes.
Some of them are Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lawrence, Phoebe Walter-Bridge, Cate Blanchett, and others.
