  • Be Very Careful in the Chilly Weather – Opt for shoes with a warm lining and good grip as well as some thick socks. These will help you to stay warm during the winters.



  • Shun the Sedentary Lifestyle – If the conditions are not too harsh then it is always advisable to venture outside. It is better to go outside when there is ample amount of daylight. It is also advisable that you move around and do not lead a sedentary life even if you stay indoors. This will help you to stay warm.



  • Keep Your Medicines Well-stocked – You should always stock the medicines at home like Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, lozenges, cough medicines. You can also ask your pharmacist for suggestions on OTC Medicines, if you fall sick. Minor illnesses are dealt with quite well by the pharmacists and the best part is that you don’t have to pay for the prescription.



  • Pneumonia and Flu Jabs – You should go for a flu jab every year. There are also many medical camps that are held for providing these shots. Remember that the flu can enhance the risk of Pneumonia to a great extent. That is why you should ask your doctor for the shot. If you take the pneumonia jab then it will protect you against Meningitis, Pneumonia, and Septicaemia. So this one is usually quite useful.



  • Gobble Up the Vitamin D – Not getting ample amount of Vitamin D on the dark and cold winter days can make you feel tired and depressed for a long time. That is why you should soak in as much sunlight as possible. Apart from that, the other sources of vitamin D include the red meat, eggs, margarine and some dairy products and cereals. People with Vitamin D deficiency should take the Vitamin D supplements all the year round.



  • Check the Thermostat – It is just not uncomfortable when it is very cold but it can also make you sick. The low temperatures can actually increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, and hypothermia. Your living room should be around 21 degree Celsius which is 70 Fahrenheit. The temperature of the other rooms should be around 18 degree Celsius or 64 Fahrenheit.
