The term “clean eating” is becoming very popular and is widely used by the health-conscious people. Clean eating is basically an eating habit that focuses on whole, fresh foods. This lifestyle is enjoyable and easy as long as some guidelines are followed. Rather than focussing on tracking crab, protein, calorie or fat intake, clean eating involves consuming foods that are closer to their natural state. Some tips for clean eating are mentioned in the points below.

Eat more Fruits and Vegetables    

Fruits and vegetables are one of the healthiest foods. They are loaded with vitamins, fibers, plant compounds and minerals that protect cells from damage and helps to fight inflammation. According to studies, vegetables and fruits also reduce the risk of heart diseases, cancer, and other diseases.  You need to eat as much fruits and vegetables as possible if you want to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Eat Less Meat

Eating less meat is suggested by many researchers as it is healthier for a person and for the planet. Avoiding meat can reduce the risk of heart diseases, reduce blood pressure and helps to keep one’s weight in control. Clean eating also includes cutting down processed meat like bacon, cold cuts, and sausages. Diet experts recommend more of white meat and less of red meat. White meat is healthier because it does not have a lot of fats like red meat.

Limit Sugar

Most people are habituated to eating excess added sugar. According to several health associations, a woman should not eat more than 6 teaspoons of sugar per day and a man should not eat more than 9 teaspoons per day. One must clean up their diet and limit sugar products like baked goods, soda, sweets, candy, etc. Minimize the intake of sugars as much as possible.

Limit Alcohol

Alcohol is mostly made by adding yeast to vegetables, fruits or crushed grains and then fermenting the mixture. Apart from the antioxidants in wine, alcohol contains no nutrient. Consuming alcohol frequently can contribute to numerous health problems like digestive disorders, liver diseases and excess belly fat. You can lead a healthier life if you limit alcohol intake.

Reduce Processed Food

Processed food should be avoided in order to eat clean. Most processed food lose their nutrients and fibers during the time of processing and gain chemicals, sugar and other unhealthy ingredients. Consuming processed food frequently can increase the risk of heart disease and one can gain weight over time. Be keen to eat as much natural foods as possible and minimize the intake of processed food if you want live longer.

Drink Lots of Water

Water is the most natural and the healthiest beverage one can drink. It can be defined as a clean beverage as it contains no sugar, additives, or other unhealthy ingredients. It is an excellent source of hydration and drinking plenty of water daily can help in achieving a healthy weight.
