The Jorvik Viking Centre brings the Viking era to life with a ride through a reconstructed Viking village and exhibits of artefacts discovered during archaeological digs. It’s very interactive and engaging for kids. The York Castle Museum also has recreated historic streets your children can walk through and is very hands-on.

Finish your day seeing the sites along the ancient city walls, stretching almost 3 miles with great views of the city and countryside. The National Railway Museum is also a must-see for train fans.
