Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk became direct rivals once Zuckerberg launched Threads, similar to the Twitter platform. On Sunday, Musk announced that there might be a potential in-person fight between him and Zuckerberg, which was live-streamed on Twitter and renamed ‘X’!
In a Sunday post on ‘X,’ Musk wrote, “Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on X. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans.” To this, Zuckerberg returned with a scalding reply by adding a screenshot of Musk’s posts and replied, “Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?”
‘X’ has been facing serious issues as a social media platform, especially after Elon Musk took over Twitter in 2022. The ugly spat is the result of the constant digs that the two tech giants are taking at each other, and the origin of it all is a joke made by Elon Musk in June.
It was when online news was doing rounds regarding the launch of Threads, and Musk said, “I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options…”! To this, a user responded by reminding Musk that Zuckerberg knew jujitsu, a form of mixed martial arts.
It is where the term “cage fight” came up as Musk replied, “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”! Zuckerberg, in response, just launched Threads and posted his first tweet of a photo of identical spider-men facing off as a playful jibe!
It seems like Musk couldn’t take a joke and instead deleted his instagram profile along with tweeting that Twitter as a platform is better where strangers attack than be on Insta, which is more of a “hide the pain” social media platform.
Threads is a strategy of Zuckerberg to capitalize on the failures of Twitter after Musk acquired it for $44 billion. Issues like employee layoffs, technical challenges faced by advertisers and users, loosened content moderation policies, and limitations on users checking tweets have been seen.
X has faced further issues concerning removing the X sign from the building that symbolized the name and the logo change facing investigation. The market is unhappy with Musk, and Zuckerberg is trying to exploit the situation!
